Great learning resource for aspiring illustrators

Finally a book on sketching for the aspiring illustrator (digital or traditional). Starts off with fundamental techniques with step-by-step, photographed demos and relevant tips by expert from coloring to creature creations to scene composition. I love that there is an emphasis on stylization and imaginative drawing versus just observational drawing typical of other beginner instructional books. The projects at the end are fun and creative for the ambitious beginner. A great resource to work through and reference later on.

Great learning resource for aspiring illustrators

Finally, a book on sketching for illustrators (non-digital and digital artists alike). I really like how it begins with fundamental drawing and shading techniques with relevant step-by-step demos and then follows up with tips by experts on how to take sketches beyond the basics with an emphasis on stylization, which is what makes it valuable to me (as most beginning drawing books focus on observational drawing and not imaginative). At the end of the book, the drawing projects (comprising from character design to composing scenes) are creative and fun for an ambitious beginner. The artwork throughout is inspirational and lovely to look at. I'm enjoying working through it. Great purchase!
