About the artist

Award-winning digital artist Laura Rubin specializes in realistic portraits that fascinate with their emotion. Having drawn since she was a child, Laura studied digital art, film, and VFX at Zurich’s SAE Institute, but soon turned to drawing again. Her distinctive style of portraiture is created digitally using the industry-leading iPad software Procreate. Laura’s business combines client commissions and collaborations with selling her work, merchandise, tutorials, and digital resources.

    I read it in a matter of hours!

    This is the very first art book I bought, and OMG, I just loved it! Everything is well put together: the illustrations, photos, narration, step-by-step, etc. I especially loved how Laura explained her process -she made it look so simple and clear to achieve realism! I can't wait to start implementing everything into my own art style!

    The book is a masterpiece itself! ♥ Now I'm off to buy Laura's first art book.

    3D Total Publishing truly has an impressive book collection. I didn't know one could get love bombed by books but it really happened to me, cross my heart and hope to die!

    Their collections have outstanding quality, not only in reference to content, layout and design but also in the physical quality of the books themselves.

    I find their content to be spot on and relevant to art today, as a multi layered medium that ties together hands on craftsmanship with the complexity of high level digital artistry. The books are rich in the “know how” and give a pallet of styles from a collection of professional artists.

    I was surprised by the level of detail around their products, many books included a complimentary high quality print of the artist work, and some books were autographed by the artist themselves. What a treat!

    Their customer service is impeccable and personal. I was really aware that there is a human on the other side, funny how the absence of AI can make a human feel valued.

    Gorgeous, Informative, Inspiring!

    I pre-ordered Of Strokes and Shades, and eagerly anticipated its arrival many months away. It was more than I could have dreamed.

    The book itself is gorgeous, large with a hardcover and fantastic print quality and paper weight. It was perfect for the art, which is absolutely stunning. Her story was very touching, and an amazing insight on how she got to her current incredible skill level. The walkthrough on rendering the cover image was very clear and detailed, as was LHR's explanation of her process overall, including how to use references and create something unique and expressive.

    The overall experience of reading this book and admiring LHR's art was one of inspiration and motivation. I couldn't wait to pick up my iPad and apply what I'd learned to my own artistic journey.
