3dtotal is undergoing a refresh

Times and the way the internet is used have changed, and social media has rapidly developed into the primary channel for emerging artists. We have therefore made the difficult decision to refocus our organisation and concentrate on our publishing operations.  This means that after 11th December 2023, our galleries will no longer be accessible.

From 1st September 2023 we will no longer be accepting new submissions to the Gallery and you will have until 11th December 2023 to download any artwork that you may want to keep from your account. We wish you all the best, as we look to continue our support for developing artists through inclusion in our books and magazines and future ventures, here at https://store.3dtotal.com.

Where are the galleries and tutorials?

Sadly, our galleries, tutorials and news are now completely shut down.

Not a smart decision to remove your galleries. I used to come here for inspiration and to look at what other artists can do with the tools. Why do companies shoot themselves in the foot and think it is a good decision? Pluralsight destroyed Digital Tutors making terrible choices. I spent hundreds of dollars when them and now I haven’t opened their website in more than 2 years. Looks like 3DTotal is now on my useless list as well. Nice knowing you guys.

So, another well of CG knowledge is poised to disappear from the face of the internet forever.
While indeed some of the tutorials are rather outdated, there are some that are absolutely worth preserving even today.
3DTotal has once been a platform fostering the CG community – with amazing forum, great tutorials and shop for resources. Now it’ll be just another online store.
Sad times.

I can’t understand why it would be such a challenge for you to add one more item to the main page menu with the link to tutorials. They are already hosted on your server/s and regarding the cost it’s not like their size or amount is going to increase anymore.

Sad to hear this, 3dtotal doing what everyone else is doing. For years, you guys have been at the forefront in the 3D bussiness, getting artists to learn from your tutorials, having the chance to have their work on a gallery. Those were amazing days and I thank you for that. Sad about the new direction, but things are changing and so have you.
Thanks again for everything 3DTOTAL did for us. Cheers.

Hi 3dtotal guys
I find your decision sad. I do not agree, that some tutorials are outdated. As inspiration, as using with software you have probable use other “buttons” – that’s not a problem.
I really hope that you do not eliminate the galleries and tutorials and let it stay like an “archive”. That you do not accept new tuts and so on – that’s okay.
All the best
Sincerely Roger

I’d like to echo the previous comment made about this being a bad decision.
Being nothing but a store front removes both the sense of community of the website, and any desire I had to support it. Where I had planned to put multiple books from 3dtotal on my gift list for the holidays, I’ll now be deliberately trying to buy second-hand.
