In a chat with 3dtotal interviewer Neddy, Audra introduces herself and how she got to where she is today from being a self-taught artist brought up on the prairies of Alberta, Canada, with nothing but some Disney movies on her VHS player! In perhaps one of the most disjointed, but relatable journeys that we've heard, Audra lists the decisions she made to pursue her dreams, from moving countries, to agents and tattoo apprenticeships. Audra opens up about using art as a coping mechanism, and being super chaotic "I would be completely fighting everything I am if I tried to stick with a very specific process every time".
Audra talks about early inspirations including Loish and James Jean, who you can probably see the influence of in the cover of her upcoming book with 3dtotal, Starburst. Audra also explains the thought process behind the "nostalgic and modern" cover art for Starburst, and the choice of title "my journey as an artist kind of reminded me of a star's lifecycle". She also explains how unique this book is, with never-before-seen childhood art and galleries of finished art, plus written content not offered before in any of her other books. Starburst is a "monument" of Audra's career, and who knows where that will go next...
