About the Creator

Featured in this book...

Djamila lives and works in Leipzig, Germany. Working as an illustrator for games and books until 2017, she one day had an epiphany and decided to dedicated herself to being an independent artist, concentrating on her own style of work. Primarily creating work digitally, Djamila was obsessed with fantasy and 90s anime, and her work today is an accumulation of these early influences.
Nathan Fowkes is a Los-Angeles-based feature animation artist who has worked on films for DreamWorks, Disney, Blue Sky Studios, and Paramount, with film credits including The Prince of Egypt, Shrek, and How to Train Your Dragon. His work has been featured in numerous publications and solo exhibitions. He is a guest lecturer at ArtCenter College of Design and teaches online at Schoolism.com.
Dom is a freelance artist based in the United States. He specialises in concept art, world-building, and storytelling. He is known for creating and marketing his own personal intellectual properties and crafting them into full-length art books.
Guweiz began drawing when he was seventeen, inspired by an anime art tutorial on YouTube. Discovering a natural passion for the genre, he continued to learn and draw, and quickly amassed a fanbase for his edgy art style. Throughout this book, readers will discover his artistic story from the very beginning, with behind-the-scenes details about how some of his most popular pieces were created. Guweiz reveals his secrets for turning external influences into truly original digital art, including that all-important narrative that takes drawing and painting beyond the purely visual.
Devin Elle Kurtz is a 24-year-old digital illustrator, visual development artist, and background painter, with a focus on fantasy creatures and colorful environments. She works full-time on the Netflix animated series Disenchantment as lead background artist, but still makes time to focus on personal projects and business interests. Of particular note is Devin’s love of nature, with her whimsical scenes often featuring animals, fantastical creatures, and people within richly-lit scenes.
Heikala’s artwork combines traditional watercolor painting and inks with a fresh, enchanting approach – fans love her charming characters and scenes that are largely influenced by Finnish and Japanese cultures. This, combined with the in-depth sharing of her processes and knowledge, has given Heikala a social media following of over 400,000 on Instagram alone; she also has growing audiences on Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter.
Izzy Burton is a UK-based freelance director and artist working in animation and illustration. She is the director of the award-winning short animated film Via.
